The objectives of this clause are as follows—

to permit advertising on bus shelters that are purpose built to accommodate advertising signage,

to facilitate better access and amenity for users of public transport.

Despite any other provision of this Plan, the consent authority may grant development consent to development for the purposes of advertising, in any zone, on a bus shelter that is purpose built as an advertising structure.

The consent authority must not grant development consent under subclause (2) unless it is satisfied that the signage—

is compatible with the desired amenity and visual character of the area, and

provides effective communication in suitable locations, and

is of a high quality design and finish.
