27 Relief from pain and distress

(1)

A health care decision maker must exercise their authority to ensure that an adult with impaired decision making capacity does not needlessly suffer significant pain or distress.

(2)

A health care provider may administer health care that provides relief to an adult with impaired decision making capacity from significant pain or distress without the consent of, and despite an objection from, a health care decision maker.
