28 Powers of committee
The committee may recommend:
if a local government area is divided into wards:
(i) that the local government area remain divided into the same wards or be divided into different wards; or
(ii) that the local government area should not be divided into wards; or
if a local government area is not divided into wards:
that the local government area remain that way; or
that the local government area should be divided into wards.
(2) If the committee makes a recommendation that a local government area be divided into wards or different wards, the committee must also recommend:
the number of wards for the local government area; and
the boundaries of the wards for the local government area; and
the number of ordinary members for each ward.
(3) However, the recommendation under subsection (2)(c) must provide for the same total number of positions for ordinary members for the area that was in place before the recommendation.
(4) The committee may make other recommendations in relation to the local government area.
Example for subsection (4)
The committee may make a recommendation in relation to:
(a) the names of the wards; or
(b) the external boundaries of the local government area.
