50A Reopening inquests on coroner’s initiative
(1)
The coroner who held an inquest, or the State Coroner, may on his or her own initiative, reopen the inquest to re-examine a finding, or hold a new inquest, if satisfied—
(a)
new evidence casts doubt on the finding; or
(b)
it is otherwise in the public interest.
(2)
A coroner who has reopened an inquest, or is holding a new inquest, under this section may accept any of the evidence given, or findings made, at the earlier inquest as being correct.
