26 Power of court if noncompliance with attendance notice
This section applies if, without reasonable excuse, a person fails to comply with a notice given under section 25.
A Magistrates Court, at the request of the public guardian, may issue a subpoena requiring the attendance of the person before the court.
The Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999, other than rules 417, 418 and 420, apply in relation to the subpoena.

The court may require the person to take an oath.
The public guardian may examine the person attending before the court under a subpoena issued under subsection (2).
In this section—
subpoena means—
a subpoena for production; or
a subpoena to give evidence; or
a subpoena for production and to give evidence.
