Dangerous Substances Act 1979

If a person is convicted of an offence against this Act following action taken by an authorised officer under Part

5, the court may, on application by or on behalf of a Competent

Authority, order that, in addition to any other penalty, the defendant must pay any costs that were reasonably incurred in taking that action and are directly related to the investigation of the offence (including costs for testing, transporting, storing or disposing of dangerous substances and other evidence).
