22 Accommodation with natural ventilation
In this regulation – automatic equipment to provide natural ventilation means a system that provides natural ventilation by means of shutters or fans that are controlled automatically by temperature sensors.
A person who keeps pigs in accommodation that relies on automatic equipment to provide natural ventilation must ensure that the accommodation is inspected at least twice each day to check that that equipment is functioning properly. In the case of – a body corporate, a fine not exceeding 100 penalty units; or a natural person, a fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
A person who keeps pigs in accommodation that relies on automatic equipment to provide natural ventilation must ensure that the accommodation is – fitted with – an effective alarm system to alert personnel to a power or mechanical failure of that equipment; or alternative ventilation equipment that functions automatically in the event of a power or mechanical failure of the automatic equipment; and able to be opened manually to provide sufficient natural ventilation for the pigs. In the case of – a body corporate, a fine not exceeding 100 penalty units; or a natural person, a fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
