14 State Fire Management Council
A State Fire Management Council is established.
The Council consists of – a person nominated by the Minister; and the Chief Officer; and the person for the time being holding, in the Fire Service, an office or position determined by the Chief Officer; and the chief executive officer of the Forestry corporation; and a person nominated by the chief executive officer of the Forestry corporation; and the Director of National Parks and Wildlife; and a person nominated by the Director of National Parks and Wildlife; and a person nominated by the Tasmanian Farmers' and Graziers' Association; and a person nominated by the Tasmanian Forest Products Association; and a person nominated by the Local Government Association of Tasmania.
The member of the Council referred to in subsection (2)(a) is chairperson of the Council.
The members of the Council referred to in paragraphs (a), (e), (g), (h), (i) and (j) of subsection (2) are appointed by the Governor.
The Minister may require a body referred to in paragraph (h), (i) or (j) of subsection (2) to submit a list of names within a specified period, being a period of not less than 30 days.
If a body referred to in paragraph (h), (i) or (j) of subsection (2) fails to comply with subsection (5), the Minister may nominate a person for the purposes of that paragraph.
If a body referred to in paragraph (h), (i) or (j) of subsection (2) changes its name, the Governor may, by order, amend that paragraph by substituting the body's new name.
If a body referred to in paragraph (h), (i) or (j) of subsection (2) ceases to exist, the Governor may, by order, amend that paragraph by substituting the name of a body which the Governor is satisfied substantially represents the interests represented by the first-mentioned body.
Schedule 5 has effect with respect to the membership and meetings of the Council.
