Litter Act 2007

If a court convicts a person of an offence against this Act, the court may, instead of or in addition to any other penalty, order the person – to clear away and remove within a specified time the litter deposited by the person or any other litter in or on any place; or order the person to pay an amount representing the reasonable cost of removal of the litter to the person who, or body which, has the control or management of the land or waters where the litter was deposited by the person convicted.

An order under subsection (1)(a) may require that the litter is to be cleared away and removed under the supervision of a person nominated by the court and in accordance with any directions given by that person.

If a person ordered to clear away and remove litter under subsection (1)(a) fails to do so within the specified time in accordance with any directions given under subsection (2), the court may, on the application of the prosecutor, the person appointed as supervisor or any other person or body mentioned in paragraph (b) of subsection (1), make a further order under that paragraph against the person convicted.
