Exemption for portable, battery-powered X-ray units

A person, other than an approved radiation safety officer, is exempt from the operation of section 13(1) of the Act in relation to the use of a portable, battery-powered X-ray unit for security purposes.

It is a condition of the exemption specified in subregulation (1) that the person has received the training specified in the approved radiation management plan in respect of the use of the portable, battery-powered X-ray unit.

A portable, battery-powered X-ray unit that is used for security purposes is exempt from the operation of section 14 of the Act.
