37 Application for renewal of driver licence

An application for renewal of a driver licence must – be made to the Registrar in an approved form; and contain the information required in the approved form; and be accompanied by any evidence required by the Registrar of the applicant's – name; and date of birth; and residential address; and eligibility to hold a driver licence of the relevant class; and be accompanied by the applicable scheduled fee.

The applicant must – submit to the taking of a photograph, for inclusion on the driver licence – by a person authorised by the Registrar to take such photographs; or under alternative arrangements acceptable to the Registrar; and provide a specimen signature as required by the Registrar for inclusion on the licence.

An application for the renewal of a driver licence, other than a learner licence, may be made even though the licence has already expired if the licence has expired less than 5 years before the date of the application.
