Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2021

The Registrar may require an applicant for the renewal of a driver licence to do one or more of the following:to undergo a test or assessment, or provide other evidence to the Registrar's satisfaction, that the applicant continues to be competent to drive motor vehicles of the relevant class; to submit to an examination, at the applicant's own expense, by a medical practitioner or a registered health care practitioner, or to produce other evidence to the Registrar's satisfaction, that the applicant is physically and mentally fit to drive motor vehicles of the relevant class; to submit to a test to satisfy the Registrar that the applicant has an adequate knowledge of the law governing road traffic; to provide evidence, of a kind specified by the Registrar, establishing to the Registrar's satisfaction that – the applicant is, in other respects, a suitable person to hold a licence of the class sought by the applicant; or the applicant is, in other respects, eligible to hold a licence of the class sought by the applicant.

The Registrar may accept evidence obtained within or outside Tasmania for the purposes of this regulation.

The applicable scheduled fee is payable for a test or assessment, other than a medical examination, required by the Registrar under this regulation.
