12 Length of certain light trailers
A person must not use, or cause or permit the use of, a light semi-trailer or dog trailer on which – the distance between the point of articulation at the front of the trailer and the rear overhang line exceeds 9.5 metres; or the distance between the point of articulation at the front of the trailer and the rear of the trailer exceeds 12.3 metres. In the case of – a first offence, a fine not exceeding 20 penalty units; or a subsequent offence, a fine not exceeding 40 penalty units.
A person must not use, or cause or permit the use of, a light semi-trailer unless any projection forward of the point of articulation at the front of the light semi-trailer is contained within a radius of 1.9 metres from the point of articulation. In the case of – a first offence, a fine not exceeding 20 penalty units; or a subsequent offence, a fine not exceeding 40 penalty units.
If a light semi-trailer has 2 or more points of articulation at the front of the trailer, it must comply with subregulations (1) and (2) when measured at one of the points.
