In force
Part VIMeters

40 Power of undertakers to attach meters

The undertakers may at any time affix a meter in the pipe supplying water to any person, and may, without becoming in any way liable to that person, affix it on his land.

A person on whose supply a meter has been so fixed shall draw his supply only through that meter.

The undertakers may charge any such person for the use of the meter, in addition to any water rate or charge for water supplied to that person, such sums as may be prescribed.

No charge for the use of a meter shall, in any year, exceed one-twentieth part of the cost of the meter plus reasonable provision for maintenance and administrative expenses.

Such charges shall be recoverable in the same manner as the rates due to the undertakers for water.
