Coroners Act 2008

The State Coroner may, by instrument, delegate functions prescribed in the rules or regulations as delegable functions of the State Coroner or a coroner to a specified registrar or class of registrar.

The following functions of the State Coroner or a coroner are not functions that can be prescribed as delegable functions—

the power of delegation under subsection (1);

the power of delegation under section 100;

directing that there be an identification procedure or an autopsy;

ordering an exhumation;

ordering that a body be released;

ordering an inquest;

conducting an inquest;

making findings or reviewing findings;

ordering a person to pay costs under section 74;

assigning duties to a coroner under section 96;

assigning a magistrate or acting magistrate to be coroner or revoking the assignment;

making rules or issuing practice directions, statements or notes;

exercising a power under section 103;

giving a direction under section 108;

being a member of the Council.
