229 Ownership by devolution of title and deceased estates

No duty is chargeable under this Chapter on an application for transfer of registration of a motor vehicle lodged by a person who is beneficially entitled to the vehicle following the death of the person in whose name the vehicle was registered in Victoria.

No duty is chargeable under this Chapter on an application for registration or transfer of registration of a motor vehicle lodged by a surviving spouse or domestic partner who has acquired the vehicle through an entitlement to the whole or part of the estate of the deceased spouse or domestic partner.

No duty is chargeable under this Chapter on an application for registration or transfer of registration of a motor vehicle lodged by the executor or administrator of a deceased estate for the purpose of—
subsequently transferring the vehicle to a person who is beneficially entitled to it; or
enabling the subsequent sale of the vehicle in the course of winding up the estate.
