23 Investigation of suspected deaths
(1)
Where a person is missing and the State Coroner has reasonable cause to suspect that the person has died and that the death was a reportable death, the State Coroner may direct that the suspected death of the person be investigated.
(2)
Where the State Coroner has given such a direction, a coroner must hold an inquest into the circumstances of the suspected death of the person, and if the coroner finds that the death of the person has been established beyond all reasonable doubt, into how the death occurred and the cause of the death.
