16 Designation of cyclone areas
(1)
The SEMC may, on the advice of the agency prescribed as the hazard management agency for cyclones in the relevant area, designate an area of the State as a cyclone area.
(2)
Before designating an area under subsection (1) the SEMC is to notify each local government in whose district any part of the area proposed to be designated is situated and allow a reasonable time for submissions on the proposal.
(3)
In designating an area under subsection (1) the SEMC is to have regard to any submissions of a local government.
(4)
Notice of the designation is to be published in the Gazette.
