Termination of contract by customer
41 Termination of contract by customer
Without limiting regulation 16(1), a non‑standard contract (other than a fixed term contract) must authorise the customer to terminate the contract at any time by giving notice to the retailer not less than 3 business days before the day on which the customer wants the contract to end.
A fixed term contract must authorise the customer to terminate the contract at any time by giving notice to the retailer not less than 20 business days before the day on which the customer wants the contract to end.
Subject to the provisions of any other written law or a relevant code, a fixed term contract may allow the retailer to impose an additional charge if the contract is terminated by the customer.
If a fixed term contract includes a provision referred to in subregulation (3), the contract must specify the amount of the charge or the method of calculating the charge.
