A sentencing judge must identify with specificity where an offence falls in the range of objective seriousness and provide reasons for that finding; bare acceptance of a Crown submission is insufficient. Possession of a prohibited concealed weapon found with drugs, money and ammunition in a drug supplier's safe is a significant offence that cannot be characterised as 'of little moment'. Where drug supply and firearm possession involve discrete and independent criminal acts, at least a partly cumulative sentence is required because the sentence for one offence cannot comprehend the criminality of the other.
