Electoral Act 1992

An application for registration of a political party must—

be signed by the secretary of the party; and

state the party’s name; and

state any abbreviation of the party’s name that the party intends to use for this Act; and

state the name and address, and contain a specimen signature, of the person nominated to be the registered officer of the party; and

state the name and address of the secretary of the party; and

be accompanied by a copy of the party’s constitution; and

be accompanied by a list containing the following details about at least 100 members of the party who are electors:

name;

address;

if either of the following is known by the applicant:

date of birth;

email address; and

if the party’s name, or any abbreviation of the party’s name that the party intends to use for this Act, includes the name of a particular living person—be accompanied by a written notice, signed by the person, that—

states an address for the person or indicates that the person’s address is suppressed; and

states that the person consents to the use of the person’s name in the party’s name or abbreviation.

However, a notice is not required under subsection (1) (h) if the use of the person’s name in the party’s name or abbreviation does not suggest that there is a connection between the party and the person.

The commissioner may use information obtained under subsection (1) (g) only to find out whether the party has at least 100 members who are electors.
