Judicial Commissions Act 1994

The head of council, or an authorised person, may, by written notice given to a person (a subpoena), require the person to appear before the council at a hearing, at a stated time and place, to do either or both of the following:

give evidence;

produce a stated document or other thing relevant to the hearing.

A person is taken to have complied with a subpoena under subsection (1) (b) if the person gives the document or other thing to the council before the date stated in the subpoena for its production.

The head of council may require a witness appearing at a hearing before the council to give evidence to do 1 or more of the following:

take an oath;

answer a question relevant to the hearing;

produce a stated document or other thing relevant to the hearing.
