9 Meaning of injury

(1)

In this Act:

injury—

(a)

means any of the following:

(i)

physical injury;

(ii)

mental illness;

(iii)

mental disorder; and

(b)

includes—

(i)

the aggravation, acceleration or recurrence of a physical injury, mental illness or mental disorder; or

(ii)

the contraction, aggravation, acceleration or recurrence of a disease; and

(c)

if the injury occurs in the course of, or as a result of, a sexual offence or family violence offence includes—

(i)

unplanned pregnancy; or

(ii)

a sense of violation; or

(iii)

a reduced sense of self-worth; or

(iv)

increased fear or feelings of insecurity; or

(v)

reduced capacity to participate in sexual activity.

(2)

In this section:

family violence offence means a schedule 1 offence for which the victim of the offence is a relevant person.
