Notifiable Diseases Act 1981

The Chief Health Officer may, by instrument in writing, either generally or in relation to a particular matter or class of matters, delegate to a person specified in the instrument of delegation all or any of his powers or functions under this Act, other than this power of delegation.

A power or function delegated in accordance with subsection (1) shall be exercised or performed by the delegate in accordance with the instrument of delegation.

A delegation under this section is revocable at will by the

Chief Health Officer and does not prevent the exercise of a power or the performance of a function by him.

When delegating a power or a function under subsection (1) to a person, the Chief Health Officer may describe the person as an authorized person and the person so described is an authorized person for the purposes of the exercise of that power or performance of that function.
