Coroners Act 2003

In making an appointment of a member other than the chairperson, the Minister must ensure—

the membership of the board reflects the diversity of the Queensland community and includes at least one member who is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and

the membership of the board includes representatives of government entities and non-government entities; and

that members have experience, knowledge or skills the Minister considers relevant to the board’s functions, for example, experience, knowledge or skills in relation to domestic and family violence, the justice system and health.

A person may not be appointed as a member if the person—

is an insolvent under administration; or

has a conviction, other than a spent conviction, for an indictable offence; or

is a member of the Legislative Assembly.
