Coroners Act 2003

The Minister may appoint a member of the board to be the deputy chairperson of the board.

A member may be appointed as the deputy chairperson at the same time as the person is appointed as a member.

A vacancy arises in the office of deputy chairperson if the person holding the office—

resigns office by signed notice given to the Minister; or

ceases to be a member.

A person resigning the office of deputy chairperson may continue to be a member.

The deputy chairperson is to act as chairperson—

during a vacancy in the office of the chairperson; and

during all periods when the chairperson is absent from duty or for another reason can not perform the duties of the office.
