Heavy Vehicle (Vehicle Standards) National Regulation

The air pressure in each air brake reservoir in a B-double or road train must recover to at least 420kPa within 1 minute after 3 full brake applications have been made within a 10-second period if, before the 3 brake applications have been made—

the engine is running at maximum speed; and

the vehicle’s governor cut-in pressure is no higher than—

the pressure specified by the vehicle’s manufacturer; or

if there is no manufacturer’s specification—550kPa; and

the air pressure in the air storage tanks of the vehicle is not more than—

the average of the maximum and minimum pressures in the operating pressure range specified by the vehicle’s manufacturer; or

if there is no manufacturer’s specification—650kPa.

In this section—governor cut-in pressure, in relation to a heavy vehicle, means the air pressure at which the vehicle’s air brake compressor starts supplying air to the vehicle’s air brake reservoir.
