17 Keeping copy of permit while driving
The driver of a heavy vehicle who is driving the vehicle under a vehicle standards exemption (permit) must keep the permit or a copy of the permit in the driver’s possession.Maximum penalty—$3000.
Each relevant party for a driver mentioned in subsection (1) must ensure the driver complies with subsection (1), unless the relevant party has a reasonable excuse.Maximum penalty—$3000.
In this section—relevant party, for the driver of a heavy vehicle, means—
an employer of the driver, if the driver is an employed driver; or
a prime contractor of the driver, if the driver is a self-employed driver; or
an operator of the vehicle, if the driver is making a journey for the operator.
