63 Attorney-General may give board directions
The Attorney-General may give the board a written direction about the following—
Legal Aid performing its functions or exercising its powers;
Legal Aid’s policies, priorities or guidelines, including priorities in legal assistance funding.
The Attorney-General may only, and must, give a direction under subsection (1) relating to legal assistance given under a legal assistance arrangement with the Commonwealth, if the Commonwealth Attorney-General gives the Attorney-General a written request for the direction.
A direction under subsection (1) can not be about giving legal assistance to a particular person.
The board must comply with a direction given under subsection (1) or (2).
The Attorney-General must table in the Legislative Assembly—
a copy of any direction given to the board under subsection (1); and
if the direction was given on the request of the Commonwealth Attorney-General—a copy of the request.
The copy of a direction or request mentioned in subsection (5) must be tabled in the Legislative Assembly within 10 sitting days after the direction is given to the board.
