Dog and Cat Management Regulations 2017

For the purposes of section 69 of the Act, a person will be taken to have bred a dog or cat if the person—

provides semen or ova used to breed the dog or cat;

provides any assistance (however described) in the course of breeding the dog or cat; or

provides facilities used in the course of breeding the dog or cat.

For the purposes of section 69 of the Act, a person will be taken to have bred a dog or cat if the person allows, or fails to take reasonable steps to prevent—

a dog or cat owned by the person to impregnate another dog or cat;

a dog or cat owned by the person from being impregnated by another dog or cat, and that pregnancy results in the birth of the dog or cat.

Section 69(1) of the Act does not apply in relation to the sale of a dog or cat in circumstances contemplated by section 62(1) or 64A(1) of the
