Adoption Act 1988

A person who uses or threatens to use any force or restraint, or does, or threatens to do, any injury, or causes, or threatens to cause, any detriment of any kind to a parent or guardian of a child with a view –

to inducing that parent or guardian to offer or refrain from offering the child for adoption under this Act; or to influencing the parent or guardian in the expression of any wishes contained in an instrument of consent to the adoption of a child –

is guilty of an offence.
