13 Husbandry procedures to be performed by competent person
In this regulation – elective husbandry procedure means – castration; or tail docking; or clipping of needle teeth; or nose ringing; or marking for the purpose of permanent identification; or back fat measurement; or pregnancy diagnosis; or tusk trimming.
A person who keeps pigs must not cause or allow an elective husbandry procedure to be performed on a pig in the person’s care or charge unless it is performed by – a veterinary surgeon; or a competent stockperson who is experienced in performing the relevant elective husbandry procedure; or a person who is acting under the direct supervision of a person referred to in paragraph (a) or (b). In the case of – a body corporate, a fine not exceeding 100 penalty units; or a natural person, a fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
