18 Piglets to be checked to ensure suckling
In this regulation – appropriate substance, for colostrum, means – a commercially prepared colostrum substitute or replacer designed specifically for consumption by pigs; or a substitute that has been recommended by a veterinary surgeon for consumption by piglets.
A person who keeps pigs must ensure that a piglet in the person's care or charge is checked – within 24 hours after the piglet’s birth; and to ensure that the piglet is suckling from the sow. In the case of – a body corporate, a fine not exceeding 100 penalty units; or a natural person, a fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
