68 Statutory non-parole period
The non-parole period in respect of a sentence of imprisonment is a period equal to one-half of the period of the operative sentence.
Subsection (1) does not apply in relation to – a sentence of imprisonment for the term of the natural life of the prisoner; or detention in accordance with a declaration under section 7 of the Dangerous Criminals and High Risk Offenders Act 2021.
