27 Chief executive officer
The board, after consultation with the Minister, may appoint a person as the chief executive officer.
The chief executive officer is responsible for the management of the affairs of Infrastructure Victoria in accordance with the general policies and strategic direction determined by the board.
The board may at any time remove or suspend a person from the office of chief executive officer.
The chief executive officer holds office, subject to this Act—
on a full-time or part-time basis; and
on such terms and conditions as are determined by the board, after consultation with the Minister, and specified in the instrument of appointment.
The chief executive officer must not be a director of Infrastructure Victoria.
The chief executive officer may resign from the office in writing signed by the chief executive officer and delivered to the chairperson.
If the chief executive officer is unable, whether because of illness, suspension, absence or otherwise, to perform the duties of the office of chief executive officer, the board may appoint another person to act in the place of the chief executive officer during the period of the inability—
for a specified period not exceeding 1 month; or
after consultation with the Minister, for a specified period of more than 1 month.
A person appointed under this section to act in the place of the chief executive officer while so acting—
has all the rights and powers, and must perform all the duties, of the chief executive officer; and
is to be paid any remuneration and travelling or other allowances fixed by the board from time to time, having regard to the rate of remuneration and allowances for the time being payable to the chief executive officer.
