229 Self‑incrimination not an excuse

(1)

An individual is not excused from complying with a direction under this Act to provide information or answer questions, or to produce any record or thing, on the ground that the information, answer, record or thing might incriminate the individual or make the individual liable to a penalty.

(2)

However, any information or answer provided, or document or thing produced, by an individual in compliance with a direction under this Act is not admissible in evidence in any proceedings against the individual other than proceedings for perjury or an offence against section 227.
