167 Voting

(1)

The right to vote attaches to membership and not shareholding.

(2)

Except as provided in subsections (3) and (4), each member has only one vote at a meeting of the co‑operative.

(3)

If its rules so provide, a member of a co‑operative group may have the number of votes (up to 5) at a general meeting that is specified in the rules.

(4)

If the rules so provide, the chairperson has a casting vote at a board meeting or general meeting.

(5)

In the case of joint membership —

(a)

the joint members have only one vote between them; and

(b)

that vote may be exercised, subject to the grant of a proxy or power of attorney, only by the joint member determined in accordance with the rules.
