179.1 179–1 NSW rule: stopping in controlled loading zone
(1) This rule applies to a driver who stops a goods vehicle in a controlled loading zone.

Goods vehicle is defined in the Dictionary.
(2) A controlled loading zone is a length of road to which a loading zone sign applies where information on or with the sign—
(a) indicates the length of road is controlled by a loading zone device, or
(b) includes the words “CONTROLLED”, “TICKET” or “METER”.

(3) A driver must obey instructions, if any, on or with the loading zone sign or a loading zone device used in connection with the controlled loading zone.
Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.

(4) If the instructions referred to in subrule (3) require a loading zone ticket to be printed, the printed loading zone ticket must be displayed in or on the vehicle in a way making its date and expiry time clearly visible to persons outside the vehicle.
Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.
(5) A driver does not commit an offence under subrule (3) or (4) if the driver—
(a) stops a goods vehicle in a controlled loading zone before complying with subrule (3) or (4), so long as the person complies with subrules (3) and (4) immediately after stopping the vehicle, or
(b) is driving a vehicle engaged in dropping off, or picking up, passengers.
(6) The driver of a goods vehicle must not allow the vehicle to remain stopped in a controlled loading zone after the expiry of the loading zone ticket.
Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.
(7) A driver must not stop in a controlled loading zone closed under the Road Transport (General) Regulation 2021.

Note.
The Road Transport (General) Regulation 2021, section 125 enables a parking authority to temporarily close a controlled loading zone by erecting a sign to that effect in, or in close proximity to, the zone.
(8) This rule prevails over other parking restrictions that may apply within a controlled loading zone, and those restrictions do not apply, and may not be enforced, in relation to a goods vehicle stopped in a controlled loading zone in accordance with this rule.
