214.1 214–1 NSW rule: interpretation
In this Division—
dipping device has the same meaning as in rule 79 of the Light Vehicle Standards Rules.
fog light means a light used to improve the illumination of the road in case of fog, snowfall, heavy rain or a dust storm.
headlight means a headlight of the kind referred to in the Light Vehicle Standards Rules.
parking light means a parking light of the kind referred to in the Light Vehicle Standards Rules.
period of darkness means—
any time during the night, or
any other time when there is insufficient daylight to render a person dressed in dark clothing discernible at a distance of 100 metres.

There are no corresponding definitions for the purposes of Division 1 of Part 13 of the Australian Road Rules. These definitions are required for the purposes of the NSW rules contained in this Division.
