A relevant person who is required to carry out protection works under this Part must, before commencing the works, enter into a contract of insurance, in accordance with this section, with an approved insurer (and renew and maintain that contract in accordance with this section) against damage by the proposed protection works to the adjoining property and against any liabilities likely to be incurred to owners and occupiers of adjoining property and members of the public.
