Criminal Code Act 1899

It is lawful for any person to use such force as is reasonably necessary in order to prevent the commission of an offence which is such that the offender may be arrested without warrant; or in order to prevent any act from being done as to which the person believes, on reasonable grounds, that it would, if done, amount to any such offence; or in order to prevent a person whom the person believes, on reasonable grounds, to be an involuntary patient under the Mental Health Act 2016 or a forensic disability client under the Forensic Disability Act 2011 from doing violence to any person or property. sch 1 pt 5 ch 26 s 266 amd 2000 No. 16 s 590 sch 1 pt 2; 2011 No. 13 s 174; 2016 No. 5 s 868
