174 Duration of emergency order
An emergency order remains in force for the period specified in the order, not exceeding 12 months from the date on which the order is published or served under this Division.
The
Minister may, by making an order that amends an emergency order, extend the period during which an emergency order remains in force for a further period not exceeding 6 months.
The duration of an emergency order may be extended under subsection (2) as many times as the Minister considers necessary.
If the Minister extends the duration of an emergency order so that it will be in force for more than 18 months, the Minister must cause a written report on the making and extension of the emergency order to be laid before both Houses of Parliament within 12 sitting days after that extension is made by the Minister.
