4 The Church
in this State has and shall be deemed to have continuous identity with the United Church of England and Ireland in this State when it was known as the Colony of Van Diemen's Land and with the Church of England in this State when it was known as the Colony and later the State of Tasmania, after the name "Church of England" replaced the name "United Church of England and Ireland" by virtue of the Irish Church Act, 1869.
