33 Identification of authorised officers
The Secretary – is to issue an identity card to each authorised officer who is not a police officer; and may issue an identity card to each authorised officer who is a police officer.
The identity card is to – be in an approved form; and contain a recent photograph of the authorised officer; and contain the prescribed particulars, if any.
When a person ceases to be an authorised officer the Secretary is to retrieve the person's identity card, if issued, as soon as practicable.
An authorised officer who is not a police officer must – carry his or her identity card while carrying out duties under this Act; and if practicable, produce the identity card before exercising a power of an authorised officer.
A police officer who is exercising or about to exercise a power of an authorised officer must, if practicable, comply with a request to identify him or herself by – producing the officer's police identification, or authorised officer identity card, if issued; or stating orally or in writing the officer's name, rank and place of duty, or the officer's identification number.
This section does not prevent the issue of a single identity card to a person for this Act or other Acts.
