151 Approved clubs, shooting galleries and ranges
A person may apply to the Commissioner to approve – a shooting gallery; or a rifle club; or a pistol shooting club; or a range; or a society, the members of which collect firearms.
An application is to be – in an approved form; and accompanied by the prescribed fee; and lodged with the Commissioner.
The Commissioner may – grant an application; or refuse to grant an application.
The Commissioner must not grant an application to approve a shooting gallery unless satisfied that – the situation, construction, suitability and equipment of the gallery do not cause a hazard to the users of the gallery, the general public or other property; and that any firearm to be used in connection with the gallery is safe and appropriate for that purpose.
The Commissioner must not grant an application to approve a range unless satisfied that the situation, construction, suitability and equipment of the range do not cause a hazard to the users of the range, the general public or any other property.
The Commissioner must notify the applicant of the refusal to grant an application for approval by notice in writing stating the reasons for the refusal.
