55 Protection of members &c.
A council member or a commission member has, in the performance of a function, or the exercise of a power, as such a member in relation to an examination, the same protection and immunity as a judge of the Supreme Court in proceedings in that court.
An Australian legal practitioner assisting the council or a commission, or appearing on a person’s behalf at a hearing before the council or a commission, has the same protection and immunity as a barrister has in appearing for a party in proceedings in the Supreme Court.
Subject to this Act, a person subpoenaed to attend or to appear before the council or a commission as a witness has the same protection and is subject to the same liabilities as a witness in proceedings in the Supreme Court.
