58 Application of Defamation Act 2005 to certain reports
The proceedings of a hearing before the council or a commission are taken to be proceedings of public concern for the purposes of section 29 of the Defamation Act 2005.
Subsection (1) does not apply in relation to the publication of a report of proceedings, or a part of proceedings, if – a direction given under section 46(1) restricts publication of the proceedings, or part of them, and the publication of the report contravenes the direction; or a part of the report so published was omitted by the Attorney-General in accordance with section 50.
