99 Punishment of persons guilty of contempt

Whenever in the course of any proceedings before a Warden’s Court any person insults the warden or any officer of the court, or interrupts the proceedings, or in any other manner is guilty of contempt in the face of the court, the following provisions shall apply:—

(a)

Such person may, by written or verbal direction of the court, be taken into custody by the bailiff or any police officer or constable, with the assistance, if necessary, of other persons, and be detained until the rising of the court;

(b)

Instead of discharging such person at the rising of the court, the warden may inflict any penalty not exceeding $10, and in default of payment commit him to prison for any term not exceeding 7 days, or may commit him to prison for any such term without inflicting any such penalty.
