Veterans' Entitlements (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 1986

For the purpose of the application of Subdivision E of Division 14 of Part III of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act to and in relation to a person, a request lodged by the person, in accordance with subsection 5(2) of the Social Security Act 1947 (in its application for the purposes of the Repatriation Act) after 14 March 1985 and before 14 June 1985, shall be deemed to have been lodged on 14 March 1985.

Subdivision E of Division 14 of Part III of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act extends to a request lodged by a person, in accordance with subsection 5(2) of the Social Security Act 1947 (in its application for the purposes of the Repatriation Act) on or after 14 March 1985 and before the commencing date as if:

the Veterans’ Entitlements Act had come into operation on 14 March 1985;

the request had been duly lodged under that Subdivision of that Act; and

any decision of the Commission that it was satisfied as referred to in paragraph 52ZB(1)(d) of that Act given before the commencing date had been given under that paragraph;

A charge lodged for registration under section 5 of the Social Security Act 1947 (in its application for the purposes of the Repatriation Act) before the commencing date has effect on and after that date as if it were a charge under section 52ZF of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act.
