26 New articles
This rule applies to an articled clerk if, before the end of the period during which the clerk is required to serve under articles (the original articles):
the principal dies or ceases to practise as a solicitor or as a barrister and solicitor; or
the articled clerk is otherwise unable to complete service under the original articles.
The clerk may enter into articles (the new articles) with another person mentioned in rule 19(1) if the Board gives its approval.
The new articles must contain a provision requiring the articled clerk to render service in accordance with the new articles for a period equal to the remaining period of service under the original articles.
The clerk must lodge the new articles with the Secretary to the
Board not later than 14 days after the date the new articles are signed or within a further time allowed by the Board.
